Last week, a group of our high school students kicked off a synchronous distance learning course in sociology with Finger Lakes Community College! This builds on their experience from the fall, when they completed an asynchronous psychology course through FLCC.
This opportunity has been made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program. The sociology course is the first synchronous class offered through this grant, serving as a pilot program in partnership with FLCC and other local districts.
To ensure accessibility for all students, the district is covering the cost of tuition and textbooks—eliminating barriers and opening doors to higher education.
Thank you to Karen Soanes, Jessica Morton, and Amy Shannon for their hard work in launching this program, and to FLCC for partnering with Bloomfield to pilot this exciting initiative!
