Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am writing to make you aware that earlier today we learned one of our primary school students brought a small bullet with them to school. The bullet was discovered when a student saw it on the floor of their classroom. The student who found the bullet did the right thing and immediately reported it to the teacher. As soon as District Administration was made aware, our Elementary Principal, Mr. Fargnoli and our School Resource Officer, Deputy Williamson, immediately took action and began to investigate further. We have learned that the student found the bullet at home this morning, placed it in his pocket and forgot it was there. Our School Resource Officer has been in contact with the family and is working to ensure there are no safety concerns. As a result of our interviews, we have determined there was no ill intent or immediate safety threat.
Please be assured that the district is handling this situation in accordance with the SAVE Act and our District Code of Conduct. I want to assure you that the health and safety of our students and staff continues to be a top priority; this matter will be addressed in a way that reflects that.
If you have any questions regarding this matter please contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Andrew M. Doell
Bloomfield Central School District- Superintendent
