Internet Enabled Device Ban Open Forum

Included as part of the 2025-2026 New York State budget is ban on students using personal internet-enable devices (phones and smart watches) during the instructional day. This ban begins August 1, 2025. School Districts must adopt a policy by August 1. A survey was sent to parents and students in grades 6-12. On Tuesday, June 17 a small stakeholder group comprised of students, staff, and parents met to gather ideas. The district is working on a draft policy based on feedback from the survey and yesterday's meeting. The draft plan will be presented at an Open Forum on Tuesday, June 24 at 6pm in the Middle-High School Band Room. All parents and caregivers are welcome to attend. We will gather additional feedback on our plan at this meeting. The Board of Education is required to have two readings of the policy. The first reading will be at the July 9 Board of Education Meeting.
