Message from the Superintendent
Dear Bloomfield School Community,
The first week back after a long break is always energizing, as it gives students, faculty, and staff the chance to reconnect. Seeing Elementary School students enjoying recess together and Middle/High School students laughing and connecting in the hallways serves as a powerful reminder of the positive relationships built throughout our District.
One of this week’s highlights was a presentation at last Wednesday’s Board Meeting on the Finger Lakes Mosaic Collective, an innovative experiential learning program that blends classroom instruction, real-world projects, and college credit. In this program students attend classes at FLCC three days a week while partnering with local organizations on authentic projects. Bloomfield is one of only a handful of districts with students participating in this program, which helps students develop professional skills, engage in real-world problem solving, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves. Bloomfield senior Kayla Linderman shared that she feels more confident, better prepared, and more excited about her future as a result of her participation. She is currently working on a project with the Ontario County Chamber of Commerce. The Mosaic program is just one of many opportunities available to our students during their time in Bloomfield.
We also welcomed our new Elementary School Nurse, Hanna Beamish, this week. Although she is new to the role, Mrs. Beamish has already begun building strong connections with students, faculty, and staff. Please join us in welcoming her to the District.
We would also like to recognize Cierra Pierce, our Senior Account Clerk, who has done a phenomenal job since joining us last July. Her position carries a wide range of responsibilities and a steep learning curve, which she has navigated with great skill. We are fortunate to have her as a member of our District Office team.
Elementary School students participated in interactive modeling activities to refocus on our Bomber Beliefs following the two-week break. Teachers and support staff revisited classroom routines and schoolwide expectations of Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. Students are earning “4 B’s” in the cafeteria for consistently demonstrating these values.
Students in grades 8-11 learned about the wide range of elective opportunities available at the Middle/High School. One highlighted elective was ceramics, as Art Teacher Mrs. Wylot demonstrated the pottery wheel during lunch. Students were impressed and eager to learn more.
Finally, just prior to the break, our Interact Club led a successful fundraiser that collected over 900 non-perishable items to support 11 families. Congratulations to our 6th grade students, who collected the most items and earned a pizza party for their efforts.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. We’re proud to celebrate the incredible things happening in our District. Please remember to let us know if you ever have any questions or ever need anything.
Andy Doell
