Message from the Superintendent

Posted Date: 09/25/26 (05:00 PM)

Dear Bloomfield School Community;

One of the many things that makes working in Bloomfield so special is the opportunity to see our students demonstrate kindness, gratitude, and appreciation for others.

Last week, several of our Elementary, Middle, and High School students gathered at Rochester Regional Airport to welcome veterans returning home from Honor Flight. Our students filled the terminal with smiles, cheers, handmade signs, and heartfelt expressions of appreciation. Their kindness and excitement created a truly special moment for the veterans, showing them just how much their service and sacrifice are valued.

For our students, the experience was about much more than welcoming a flight home. It was an opportunity to express gratitude, connect with local heroes, and learn the importance of honoring those who have served our country. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented Bloomfield!

The Power of Impact

This week, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the wonderful impact our Elementary Dean of Students, Mrs. Ulmer, has on our Elementary School.

Mrs. Ulmer is always visible, always positive, and always ready to support our students and staff. Whether she is on the bus loop welcoming students in the morning, in the hallway encouraging a student, in the cafeteria helping and connecting with students during lunch, working alongside teachers, or back at the bus loop during dismissal wishing students a great night, her energy and enthusiasm are evident throughout the school.

Her positive presence helps make our Elementary School a welcoming, caring, and joyful place to learn each day. We are grateful for all that she does for our students and school community!

Homecoming Week Is Almost Here

A reminder that next week is Homecoming Week!

Homecoming is a special time for our district as students, staff, families, and community members come together to celebrate school spirit and create lasting memories. Throughout the week, students will enjoy a variety of activities and events designed to build excitement and strengthen our sense of community.

The celebration will continue on Saturday, October 3, at 9:30 a.m. with our Homecoming Parade. The parade brings together students, families, teams, clubs, and community organizations for a fun-filled morning.

We look forward to celebrating the traditions, pride, and togetherness that make Homecoming Week in Bloomfield such a meaningful part of our school year!

Learning Happens Everywhere

Mrs. Rosdahl recently shared a wonderful example of our students demonstrating responsibility and preparedness. On Tuesday afternoon, she was on her way to observe a student in the primary wing of the Elementary School when the fire alarm sounded for a scheduled drill.

She was impressed by how quickly our Primary 12:1:1 students, along with our first- and second-graders, exited the building, formed quiet lines on the playground, and followed directions. The drill was completed quickly because our students knew how to be safe, responsible, and respectful during the drill. We are proud of them!

Mrs. Vaillancourt recently spent time in the Elementary cafeteria this week and observed another important part of learning at school.

The cafeteria is a very busy place, especially during the month of September. One of the goals for the year is to help some of our youngest learners develop independence, which is a process, and we are fortunate to have so many caring adults supporting our students along the way.

Opening milk cartons and cheese sticks may seem like small tasks, but they require fine motor skills and practice. A special shout-out goes to the adults working with our Kindergarten and first-grade students: Ms. Pixley, Mrs. Rayburn, Mrs. Lapiana, Miss Bennett, Mrs. Bowe, Mr. Merrill, and Mrs. Geiger.

Their work goes far beyond simply helping students open things. They read with students after they finish their lunch, comfort them when a meatball lands on a white shirt, and listen to their stories about their day.

These moments remind us that learning happens everywhere in our school district, and as does relationship building.

As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership. If you have any questions or need anything throughout the year, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
