Message from the Superintendent

Posted Date: 10/03/25 (5:00 PM)

Dear Bloomfield School Community,

I hope you've had a wonderful week!

One of our core values at Bloomfield is fostering a strong sense of community and belonging. It's been truly inspiring to see this come to life in so many ways this year. A great example is how our Elementary School has embraced the new BOCES program now housed in the Elementary building. Thanks to the leadership of Michelle Baker, both staff teams will have the opportunity to come together during lunch on the upcoming Superintendent’s Conference Day. This gathering offers a simple yet meaningful chance to connect names with the friendly faces we see in the hallways, and it's the perfect reflection of our commitment to making everyone feel at home here in Bloomfield.

Speaking of warm welcomes, we’d like to give a big shout out to our Elementary food service team! Every day, they go above and beyond to create a positive and inviting atmosphere in the cafeterias of both schools. Their energy and smiles make the lunchroom a bright spot for students and staff alike.

We also have so much to celebrate in athletics! Under Coach Chris Jaskier’s leadership, the varsity golf team remains undefeated at 13-0 after a series of impressive wins. With a low team score of 192, they’re well on their way toward a potential third consecutive sectional title this spring. On Thursday night, the team celebrated their Seniors. The celebration served as a great reminder of how so many friendships, great memories, and wonderful experiences develop through extracurricular activities.

Meanwhile, the varsity girls’ volleyball team continues their dominant run with a 11-0 record in pursuit of back-to-back sectional championships. Coach Mark Robinson recently achieved a major milestone—surpassing 320 career wins. Congratulations to him and the team on this incredible accomplishment!

Inside the classroom, amazing things are happening every day. Mrs. Guertin, one of our outstanding first-grade teachers, has created a nurturing and engaging learning environment where students feel loved, supported, and challenged. It’s especially impressive to see her students confidently explain their thinking in math, clear evidence of excellent teaching and a strong classroom culture.

Our High School science students also had an exciting learning opportunity recently. The Gemini Environmental Science and IB Biology classes participated in “Science on Seneca,” a hands-on field trip run by the Geoscience Department at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Students boarded a 65-foot research vessel, essentially a floating classroom, and spent three hours rotating between scientific stations at different points on Seneca Lake. They used professional-grade equipment to analyze water quality, identify macroinvertebrates, test chemical levels, and study sediment samples. The experience concluded with a classroom discussion back on campus to review and reflect on their findings. It was an unforgettable day of real-world science in action!

We’re also thrilled to share a historic achievement from our music department. Ty Naffziger, who earned a perfect score at the Wayne Solo Festival and was originally selected as an alternate, has now been invited to join the All-State Mixed Choir! Ty is the first student in Bloomfield history to perform with this elite group, the most selective choir in New York State. Ty will have the chance to rehearse with top vocalists from across the state at the Rochester Convention Center, with the performance scheduled for early December. Congratulations, Ty!

Lastly, we love hearing how our graduates are doing, and we’re proud to share that one of our alumni recently scored in the 98th percentile on the MCAT! This remarkable achievement is a testament to their hard work and the solid foundation they built here in Bloomfield.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and partnership. We’re proud to celebrate the incredible things happening in our District.

Please remember to let us know if you ever have any questions or ever need anything.

Andy Doell
