Message from the Superintendent

Dear Bloomfield School Community,
I hope you’ve had a wonderful week! Today, I’d like to take a moment to celebrate the work our District is doing to ensure that all students have access to college credit-bearing opportunities. I’ll also be sharing some of the great things that happened across our schools this week
In Bloomfield, we have made a commitment to offering meaningful and challenging academic opportunities for all students. For many years, our district has proudly provided a wide range of college credit-bearing courses, and we’re excited to share how those opportunities continue to grow.
In the 2024–2025 school year, we launched a new partnership with Monroe Community College to offer a course in optics, taught by one of our own teachers. We also expanded our long-standing relationship with Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC), now offering both an asynchronous psychology course and a synchronous sociology course, both taught directly by FLCC professors.
Most of our college-level courses are taught by Bloomfield faculty members through our FLCC Gemini partnership. In fact, we currently offer more than 20 of these courses. You can explore these offerings in our Middle/High School Course Description Book, available on our website.
While scheduling these courses in a small school setting can be challenging, we believe strongly in providing these valuable opportunities to our students. Looking ahead to the 2025–2026 school year, we’ve entered into a Cooperative Service Agreement through Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES. This will allow us to receive aid for many of the associated costs, ensuring we can continue to offer these programs in a way that is both accessible and fiscally responsible.
On Monday evening, I had the honor of presenting at the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Board meeting in Newark to share how Bloomfield and BOCES have worked together to create meaningful programs for students throughout the region. It was incredibly affirming to hear several BOCES administrators speak so highly of our faculty and staff. They described Bloomfield as a welcoming place, where people step in to help whenever there’s a need, and where the positive climate and culture are unmistakable. Their kind words reflect what we already know—our school community is truly something special!
As you know, we have many caring and talented teachers. This week we would like to recognize the incredible work of Mrs. Macumber, our Intermediate 12:1+1 teacher. She continues to go above and beyond to create engaging, supportive, and challenging learning experiences in reading, math, science, and social studies. Her belief in her students and her dedication to their success is truly inspiring. We are so fortunate to have her on our team!
This week, we were proud to recognize several Middle/High School students who were “caught” demonstrating kindness, safety, responsibility, and respect—the core values of the Bomber Way. Each month, one student from each grade level team is recognized for consistently modeling these important behaviors. I continue to be thankful to be in a District where we have so many wonderful students who exemplify qualities and character traits we can all be proud of.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. We’re proud to celebrate the incredible things happening in our District. Please remember to let us know if you ever have any questions or ever need anything.
