Dear Bloomfield School Community,

I hope you’ve had a wonderful week!

Over the past two weeks, many of our Elementary and Middle/High School students have participated in All-County music concerts. These events gave students from across the region the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and perform together. We’ve also entered a special time of the winter season as our teams celebrate senior student-athletes. I’m deeply grateful that we’re able to offer such a wide range of opportunities—athletics, clubs, music programs, and drama productions—that allow students to connect beyond the classroom, try new things, and build important skills. These experiences truly enrich a student’s time here in Bloomfield.

Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to visit several Elementary classrooms, and I continue to be impressed by the incredible work of our teachers, teacher assistants, and teacher aides. Their patience, compassion, and joy are evident each day. It was especially meaningful to see students so engaged, curious, and excited about learning.

Here are a few highlights from around the District:

  • Senior Night for bowling was a hit; congratulations to our seniors, Elly and Maddie!
  • The second semester is off to a strong start. Our College and Career Planning class visited FLCC and gained valuable insight into the college process.
  • We extend our sincere appreciation to Melanie McGuire for her outstanding work in her interim role as PPS Director. As her time in this role comes to an end, we have heard nothing but positive feedback. She quickly acclimated to both the position and our school community and has been a patient, kind, and valued member of the Leadership Team.
  • We would also like to recognize Margaret Pixley for her incredible flexibility and dedication. Mrs. Pixley consistently meets students where they are, balancing compassion with clear expectations. One administrator recently observed her working one-on-one with a student, offering genuine care and intentional guidance. Her impact truly stands out!

That same administrator shared how impressed she is with the kindness our students show one another each day. She regularly sees students helping peers clean up messes they didn’t make, offering assistance when someone is hurt, making sure no one sits alone at lunch, or simply sharing a smile in the hallway. These small but meaningful moments truly reflect the spirit of our “BCS Family.”

We would also like to thank our Cafeteria Manager, Jodi Ferguson, for the plant-based options she has been offering in the cafeteria. These additions have been both healthy and refreshing.

Additional recent activities include:

  • UPK-5 students participated in Global Day of Play on Wednesday, February 4, engaging in play-based learning while building problem-solving, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
  • Thirty-three sophomores attended an FLTCC visit, where they explored two programs of interest and learned more about developing academic and career skills for college and career readiness.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. We’re proud to celebrate the incredible things happening in our District. Please remember to let us know if you ever have any questions or ever need anything.
